Upstate South Carolina has a rich cultural history. One facet of this heritage is displayed in Gaffney’s Cherokee County History and Arts Museum, led by the Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society. Here, you will find world-class displays and exhibits showcasing the cultural heritage. There are many permanent displays, including galleries featuring interactive tools about the Native Americans of the region. Also information about Fort Thicketty as well as the geology and mining of the area. The infrastructure display highlights the railroads and highways but also a focus on textiles and agriculture’s impact alongside. The Gallery of Heroes honors the men and women who served our nation in various roles.
The Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society also hold various events at this history and art museum. One such upcoming event is the Indoor Tag Sale, Saturday August 4th.
