It isn’t too late to enjoy one of the season’s truly magical events – the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad’s “The Polar Express” train ride! Although located in Bryson City of North Carolina, this trip is worth the trek!
Based on the Chris Van Allsburg book (and the 2004 movie), this dreamlike train ride will transport you to Christmas Eve alongside a young boy, all destined for the North Pole to receive a special present from Santa Claus. On the trip, travelers will enjoy hot cocoa and cookies as the story unfolds before their eyes. Once at the North Pole, Santa will board the train and every child will receive the gift of their own silver sleigh bell as per the classic tale.
This is not just thrilling for children but for adults as well. It is encouraged for all on board, children and children at heart, to wear PJs!
Don’t forget to save some time to walk through the Smoky Mountain Trains Museum, included in your ticket cost. To see dates and times or to purchase tickets, please click here. We hope you enjoy your enchanted journey over the river and through the woods.
