Summer is here and to what better way to enjoy our beautiful Upstate, than to head out to one of its most beautiful lakes – Lake Jocassee – for an afternoon on the water.
Lake Jocassee is minutes from northern Lake Keowee communities like Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, and about an hour north for middle-lake region communities such as Reserve at Lake Keowee and Cliffs at Keowee Falls. The smaller lake was originally a grouping of small towns, submerged to form the reservoir back in 1973. The area is largely parks, with very limited homes around its shores. Visitors can hike its shores, jump in wading pools at the base of multiple waterfalls, or go scuba-diving to see the submerged buildings in the lake’s deep waters.
For those looking to fully enjoy all Lake Jocassee has to offer, check out Eclectic Sun! This company is located in Devil’s Fork State Park and offers boat rentals, lake supplies, and even has a snack bar and ice cream! You can reserve a variety of watercraft from kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and pontoons. For groups that really want to make a memorable day of the lake, we recommend their guided pontoon tours. The tours give a history lesson, talk to the topography and features of the lake, as well as show guests various waterfalls up close.
Wanting to explore Lake Jocassee on a paddle board? Eclectic Sun has you covered. How about a lazy afternoon on a pontoon? No worries! With numerous waterfalls that flow into the lake and the stunning mountain backdrop, you will have lots to explore and many beautiful sights to see!
