The Children’s Museum of the Upstate
Located in downtown Greenville, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate is designed to spark a lifelong passion for curiosity and learning through play. 19 exhibit galleries offer visitors more than 100 individual programs focused on arts, humanities, sciences, health, nutrition and the environment. It is also the 7th largest children’s museum in the country and the first to become a Smithsonian affiliate.
Greenville Zoo
The Greenville Zoo offers animal exhibits that showcase monkeys, lions, leopards, reptiles, orangutans, red pandas and more. One of their main attractions, however, is the giraffe family that calls the zoo home. Other than seeing them in person at the zoo, you can keep up with their daily activities on the live camera feed always available on the Zoo’s website.
The Pavilion
Known for providing family fun on the ice with skating, The Pavilion also offers a bounce house, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and outdoor tennis courts. There are also athletic fields, a dog park, a miniature train and a handicap accessible playground. It’s the perfect place for a day of fun for the whole family!
Water Parks
Lake Keowee can be a blast during the hot summer days, but if you are looking for water recreation that’s a little different from boating and skiing, look no further than Greenville. With three waterparks located throughout the county, it’s easy to stay cool on those hot days.
Roper Mountain Science Center
Roper Mountain Science Center is a one-stop shop for science. Housing a planetarium that boasts one of the largest refractor telescopes in the U.S, it also has a marine lab, and living habitats with trout streams, turtle ponds and alligator swamp. Hiking trails wind throughout the property, which has a butterfly garden, arboretum and living history farm.
Mice On Main
The Mice on Main scavenger hunt is a favorite for children. Park at the north end of Main Street and walk south while the children hunt for the tiny mice sculptures hidden among Greenville landmarks. While downtown, make sure to visit the Liberty Bridge in Falls Park or watch the ducks float in the Reedy River.
