Spring is in the air and if you are looking for a good road trip, think about adding Forest City, North Carolina to your list! This town in Rutherford County has southern charm but also modern touches while preserving history.
One of the favorite attractions include the Bennett Classics Antique Auto Museum, located at 241 Vance Street. Awarded by the Antique Automobile Club of America as “Best Museum in the Nation”, there is something for everyone here to enjoy, even if you are not a car buff. Founded in 2007 and owned by two brothers, this museum has grown from their love for classic cars to something all can appreciate. Over 70 vehicles are displayed and spans decades of history. Another plus to this museum – no admission so a great trip for the entire family!
While out and about, you can also get some shopping done! The Twisted Pear on East Main Street of Downtown Forest City has local art and décor plus a large selection of his and her gifts to choose from. Also in Downtown is a family owned business called Coffee House 828. There you can find coffee, of course, but also breakfast, lunch, pastries, etc. And you will probably need that ice cream on the warmer days, right?
After you have worked up an appetite exploring Forest City, check out The Fountain at Smith’s Drugs also on East Main Street for an old fashion soda or milkshake. If you are really hungry, go for the famous grilled pimento cheese sandwich!
This quaint and appealing town will have you remembering simpler times…
